Healthy Japanese Green Tea

Tea, introduced by the Buddhist priest, was first used as the medicine more than as beverage, and the only limited people could taste in those days.
In 1191, one priest named Eisai made a great contribution to spread tea. He planted tea trees, after he returned to Japan from China with some tea seeds. The plant was great success, then the growing of tea began to spread. His work, Maintaining health by drinking tea, made a great contribution to enlighten people and let them pay attentions to the great power of tea.
In 1500s, Senno Rikyu, tea master, established the way of making tea(Sado). He elevated tea ritual to art. Still now, his started three schools,omote-senke,ura-senke and mushyanokouji-senke inherit his style of tea and contribute to spread not only tea itself, but also Japanese tradition through it.

How to enjoy Green tea

Sencha(loose tea)
Directions

[1] Prepare the water fully boiled.
[2] Warm the cup and teapot with hot water.
[3] Put one teaspoonful of tea leaves in teapot.
[4] Pour one cup of hot water(around 158F/ 70Ž) over tea leaves,
for green tea turns bitter and strong with boiling water.
[5] Steep it for 60-90 seconds or to your desired strength.
[6] Empty the content of teapot to the last drop.


Genmaicha and Houjicha(loose tea)

Directions

[1] Prepare the water fully boiled.
[2] Warm the cup and teapot with hot water.
[3] Put one teaspoonful of tea leaves in teapot.
[4] Pour one cup of boiling water over tea leaves.
[5] Steep it for 30 seconds or to your desired strength.
[6] Empty the content of teapot to the last drop.



Tea bags



Directions

[1] Prepare the water fully boiled.
[2] Place one tea bag in the cup or pot.
[3] Pour one cup of boiling water.
[4] Steep it for 60 seconds or to your desired strength.
